About Us
Saint George's Episcopal Church, Astoria is a historic, diverse, and growing community of faith in Queens, New York. For nearly two-hundred years, St. George's has been a haven of blessing and worship in Astoria, welcoming within its gates all who seek to encounter the love of God in Jesus Christ. Our common life of prayer is rooted in ancient patterns of Christian worship as expressed in the Book of Common Prayer and the Anglican tradition. On Sundays at 10am, we gather principally to sing hymns, contemplate Scripture, pray for our world, and celebrate the Holy Eucharist (also known as the Mass, the Lord's Supper, or the Divine Liturgy). We observe holy days and seasons throughout the year following the church's liturgical calendar, the rhythms of which help to draw us into a sense of God's time. St. George's is a parish church of the Diocese of Long Island in the Episcopal Church, a member of the worldwide Anglican Communion. |
